Brazilian Jiu Jitsu
The main goal of our Intro to Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is to provide the new student with the basic details, movements and techniques for a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu beginner. Our intro class will eliminate the nervousness that first time students have and provide them with the opportunity to ask questions and move at their own pace. These Brazilian Jiu Jitsu classes in Montebello allow time for proper assessment of the physical abilities of the student and how they learn and process information. Students will get a good workout while learning new self-defense techniques, increase body awareness, strength and endurance all while having fun!
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Class Structure
Warm Up: All physical activity begins with a light warm up that safely prepares the body for the increased demands of exercise and reduces the risk of injury. The class will work up to more strenuous core exercises and movements that will build functional strength, endurance, body awareness and agilities. The classes will get students to understand all the basic movements and positions of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and do so in an easy to understand, academic approach toward learning. The student will learn to train a few moves at a time with transitions between one position to the next allowing the student to retain knowledge faster through repetition and develop proper muscle memory that will allow them to act instead of trying to remember what to do in a certain situation.
All students will learn how to “TAP” or submit when having a technique being applied to them. This may be the most important move a student will learn. Everyone gets caught and knowing when to tap or submit is what prevents them from getting injured and allows us to keep training and get better. Versus Fitness likes to ensure that all of the students questions have been answered and that they have an understanding of the fundamental class structure. We also like to ensure the new student has an enjoyable and motivating experience when first getting started in learning Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Muay Thai Kickboxing or both and be better equipped with basic fundamentals and more likely to continue on this life changing and life long journey.
